inHype: e-commerce MVP development

UK eCommerce September 2020 - December 2020

inHype is an online livestream shopping platform for buying and selling various goods. The idea is to show off products in real-time, saving merchants and influencers money on less effective marketing tactics.

Sellers can start live videos to demonstrate their products while customers can purchase what they like without interrupting the broadcast with Apple Pay or a credit card. Users can also engage live, ask and answer questions instantly, provide and receive the best customer service online.

They contacted us as an e-commerce software company based in Germany for MVP development that included the critical and most useful functionality that would show value to investors and users.

THE CHALLENGE

  • MVP software development with a large set of functions in just two weeks
  • Having Instagram with it its own shopping feature as the main competitor

THE SOLUTION
  • We developed a variety of features in a short time frame using libraries or out-of-the-box solutions. For example, we went with the live video streaming library Streamaxia for broadcasting.
  • The key feature was holding live streams to demonstrate products in real-time and instantly interact with potential customers.
  • After completing the initial research, we created wireframes and prototypes to test our ideas with a focus group.

DESIGN

We decided to focus on a simple, clean design with clear contrasts to draw attention to key elements. Using familiar social UX principles, we were able to create a compelling and intuitive product interface that was easy to use.

Before coming up with a brand identity design, we researched the leading competitors and target audience. To design a product users actually needed, we had to understand their goals, pains, and needs. After that, we worked on the product branding. Our designers also provided detailed guidelines on how to use the design elements to give the brand a consistent look and feel.

The next task was to create a landing page that would demonstrate the product’s benefits and convert visitors into customers. Because the deadline was pressing, we decided to turn the ready visual solution (branding and mobile app) into a web page with the help of ReadyMag. It was a perfect solution for a quick MVP that would test the product idea and present it to investors.

Design workflow

01

Client interview

It all starts with asking the right questions about the client’s vision, goals, and values to ensure we stay on the same page.

02

Design discovery & research

During the design discovery stage, we help clients see if their idea actually solves their customers’ problems. Then, we analyze the market and competitors.

03

Mind map

After that, we structure our concepts and ideas in the form of diagrams.

04

Creating UI

The next step is giving the app a visual shape. We make sure the client’s preferences meet the latest UI trends to design the interface that’s pleasant for both the users and the client.

05

Creating UX

This is where we create an intuitive and easy to navigate user experience that is in line with usability guidelines and the product mission.
